Learning to Drive

The process of learning to drive is a difficult one, but I am here to make it easier for you.

The Theory test is split into two parts. Firstly 50 questions, pass mark 43, and the Hazard perception test, pass mark 44 out of 75. Training for the theory will be given if required.

The practical test requires a wide knowledge of driving on all kinds of roads, and in varied conditions. You will be expected to perform two manoeuvres, and possibly an emergency stop. It is essential that you have professional tuition in order to become a safe driver for life.

The average number of one hour lessons required to pass your test is approximately 45. You will be given a driver's record which will keep you informed of your progress.

The Driving Instructor

I am a DSA Approved Driving Instructor, and I have been qualified for 6 years.

I am patient, friendly, and understanding of all your needs.

If you are nervous I will provide encouragement and reassurance, if you are over confident I will help you to stay calm and collected.

The Learner Car

The car you will be learning in is a Suzuki Splash, 2008 registered, with professionally fitted dual controls, air conditioning, easily adjustable seats and high head room to accommodate all sizes. It is very comfortable to drive, with good all round vision.

Cost of Driving Lessons

The cost per hour for a standard driving lesson is £19.

Pass plus lessons are £20.

Block booking discount: 10 lessons are £170.

Lesson duration: I offer 1, 1½ and 2 hour lessons. The lessons are door to door, from home, work or agreed locations. You will receive a free lesson on introducing a friend.

Intensive Driving Courses

Intensive courses are available and will be geared around your abilities and requirements.

A 30 hour intensive course costs £450. These courses are primarily for drivers with some experience. These courses last 5 days, 6 hours per day, with breaks to suit. These hours and be adjusted to suit your availability.

Pass Plus Courses

The Pass Plus course is designed to give drivers who have passed their test experience of situations they may not have covered during their driving lessons.

Motorway training is the obvious one, but also town centre driving, rural roads, all weather driving and night time driving. This is an excellent way of preparing you for driving on your own.

You may also receive benefits on your insurance. Some companies offer 1 year no claims discount on completion of this course.

Please note you do not have to take another test for this course.
